Dana R. Fisher is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on environmental policy, civic participation and activism more broadly. She has written extensively on activism and protest. American Resistance is her sixth book. In addition to these books, she has also published her work in over 60 peer-reviewed articles in journals. She has presented her work to federal agencies, foundations, and other organizations, including the National Science Foundation, the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program, the Brookings Institution, and to program members at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, and the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
